Plano Therapist

How a Plano therapist helped me get my life together

I grew up in Florida for the first 16 years of my life. But, when my parents got divorced in 2006, I was forced to move halfway across the country to Texas with my dad. I begged.to stay in Florida, I didn’t want to uproot my entire life and schooling and move to a place where I didn’t know anybody. Regardless, we moved to Plano, Texas, and everything was fine for a while.

But then weeks went by, and months went by, and I still hadn’t made any new friends. I wasn’t doing well in school, and each day I could feel myself retract more and more from who I used to be. Finding the energy to go to school became almost impossible and by the time I graduated, I was on a bunch of drugs and drank almost every weekend.

After high school, nothing changed. I didn’t apply to any colleges, I worked but spent most of whatever I made on drugs. Needless to say, this did not get me into anything good and even landed me in jail a couple of times. Most weeks I’d spend close to $1,000 when I was at my absolute lowest. But the money didn’t matter to me, numbing the pain inside and the loneliness is what mattered.

In 2011, I went into an inpatient treatment facility after a particularly rough night. There is where I met Ms. Brittany Bridges, a Plano therapist. She worked with me over the course of a month or so to straighten me out and help with my substance abuse issues. It took a lot of work, but I felt like Brittany actually cared, and I was able to use the things she taught me to cope in different ways. Once I got out of the inpatient facility, I knew I wanted to continue my work with Brittany so that I could continue on the path of sobriety.

Even when I got out, Brittany was able to help me and was always willing to listen to whatever problems I was having. I still see her, six years later, because she’s still helping and teaching me new things. Brittany Bridges is someone I highly recommend if you or someone you love is abusing substances. She also works with people who suffer from many other things, but I can only testify to her ability to help with substance abuse. Even when I have relapsed a couple times over the years, I never felt like she was judging me or thought poorly of me. She is a very caring individual, it doesn’t take long to see that. She is extremely dedicated to her work and has consistently been a beacon of light in my life.

What’s even better is that she’s easy to reach. There are multiple ways to contact Brittany, either by phone, by email, or online using her website. Luckily, she stays open until 7 pm, so you can slip in right after work if you really need to.
